Additional Information

For this original, mixed media painting I’ve used environmentally friendly acrylics, as well as inks and charcoal. ‘Magenta Sunset’ is framed in plantation Tasmanian Oak, measuring approx 80 x 96 x 4 cm and is ready to hang. 

This painting is influenced by my imagination and a mix of memories and images from areas of western and south-western Victoria, particularly at sunset (Gunditjmara and Gariwerd country).

In ‘Magenta Sunset’ the light spreads across the trees in muted shades of blue and violet. There are shades of magenta, burgundy, lavender, deep purple, orange, yellow and white in the sky. The central area has been created using palette knives for texture to give the impression of a rocky landscape. There, I‘ve used shades of brown, cream, blue and white.

My tools are brushes, fingers, dabbing rags and, as mentioned, palette knives. The style is semiabstracted and contemporary. It has a lyrical and atmospheric feel. I like to convey a message that our environment connects with all parts of itself, in harmony and balance. My aim is to create a landscape that tells me a story as I paint and speaks to those who view it, too.

‘Magenta Sunset’ will be sent to you by courier, wrapped in recycled bubble wrap, inside a crate and packed in recycled cardboard.
