  • Mambo Wetlands, Port Stephens 300dpi

Additional Information

“Mambo Wetlands” is an original, contemporary landscape/seascape painting. The was created in archival, quality polymer inks, painted onto prepared cradled timber and future-proofed with a varnish overlay. The imagery represents the wetlands in the nature reserves around Salamander Bay in Port Stephens

“Mambo Wetlands”is a contemporary Australian Painting, started as an en plein air piece in watercolour during my travels around the Port Stephens area in northern New South Wales in the summer of 2017. I was taken with the area’s purpose as a nursery for many forms of marine life and of course as a haven for the many wading birds which frequent the shores around the Port Stephens coastal regions. The painting was later completed in my studio in the Blue Mountain and I was keen to represent the highly satisfying visuals of the area with the timbers, swamp vegetation and the low waterway itself. I used various shades of greens and particularly dark greens against the white tones of the swamp trees to portray the depth of the swamp against the starkness of the timbers.

The finished painting measures 76cm x 610cm x 4.5cm and will be delivered Fitted with gallery D-rings and cord, ready to hang.
