Man Dancing By Rubbish Bin At Festival by Jo S. Stacey

Winsor & Newton Griffin Alkyd Oil on canvas board set in a double frame

51cm (W) x 61cm (H) x 3cm (D)

Signed on the front.

We had a wonderful seafood lunch at the Oceanfest Bundaberg, and afterwards we took a stroll along the water and spotted this gentleman having a blast. I don’t know who he is, but he’s a well good sport. Judging by the time I took this photo – exactly 14:14 hours on the dot, I expect he was dancing to Mr Q who (if the time-table was adhered to) would likely have been playing at the time.
I kept the piece as free as possible to match the moment and also because, as funny as it sounds, I really wanted it to be about just him and the rubbish bin. We stood and watched him until he ceased his grooving.
My wonderful man asked me the other day what the reason was that I needed to paint us dancing. He’s always curious about my reasons for the things and the stuff. It’s taken several days, but I have an answer for him now. It’s the same as my reason for painting this man. There is something about a truly magical moment or idea/concept/image that when it grips me I need to express it via painting in order to fully integrate it. To have completely experienced and lived/understood/witnessed it.
Being on this planet is a wonderful thing, and the magical memories, well I like to meld them to my soul, and I’ll carry them for eons to come, just as I carry with me now many others long since past. So thank you Oceanfest dancing man for giving me a magical memory. There isn’t much that’s as wonderful to watch as ecstatic joy
