A bold and colourful statement piece from an artist who is passionate about our Australian landscape.

As a painter, printmaker and photographer Michael draws inspiration from the landscape around his home on Djaara country in Castlemaine, Victoria. He has exhibited widely in Australia and internationally and his work is included in public, corporate and private collections.

“I’ve been working on a series of new paintings based on the gullies and hills of Mandurang on Djaara Country exploring the effects of light on the landscape across the day. Being a spontaneous and intuitive painter usually means I do the figuring out in the early stages of painting then kind of let it rip with the gesture and vigorous mark making. Not rocket surgery though it does require of you to be completely absorbed in the moment.”
