Marimekko Mornings by Jackie Moss

I really love the fragility of Poppies which inspired a series of paintings as I observed them changing expressively before my eyes on the kitchen bench. The bright, bold red colour of this bunch in my favourite Marimekko mug emerged joyfully and strong on this particular morning – only to appear sorrowful and sad within a short time span, like a caffeine fix!

I loved the challenge of capturing the fragile and subtle mood of these stems within the timeless, bold design of the Marimekko poppy design on my mug – all reflected subtly on to the bench top.
