Mercantile by Yianni Johns – This painting was part of my Adoring Art Deco solo exhibition held in Leeton Museum Gallery in 2024. I love the shape and light in this wonderful Art Deco Building. Mercantile is a marketing term. So when I was painting this Art Deco masterpiece I wanted to convey the value in this place. By incorporating a tiny portrait of Picasso my metaphor for the mercantile nature of the building because at his peak Picasso was the highest paid person on earth. Now that is Mercantile success.
