Mermaids Kiss by Rosemary Legat – – Mystical, Captivating, Alluring, Surreal Sea Garden Delight. Acrylic paint, acrylic ink, collage & acrylic ink pen on stretched canvas.

I started applying acrylic paint and ink to a fresh canvas using a limited colour palette of blues, light green and grey with no preconceived ides of what I was going to end up painting or creating.

The colours in front of me and the manner in which I had applied my mediums conjured up thoughts of the ocean which then started to trigger my imagination.

I applied details, painting, collage, glazing in layers.  All building up interest, depth and detail.  I slowly developed my mermaid’s story to intrigue the viewer and draw their eye’s in for a closer look.

Certain mermaid folklore writes that a kiss from a mermaid can give the receiver enchanting abilities, including being able to breathe underwater, and the ability to heal people. You can also read that mermaids have a darker side, though sometimes kindly, the are usually dangerous to humans.

Whatever you choose to believe about this enigmatic creature how amazing would this alluring creation look hung in your chosen spot.
