Additional Information

Midweek Drive, Yarra Valley by Shirley Dougan – This is an original artwork of a small part of the Yarra Valley.

Close to my home, I was driving through the Yarra Valley and this particular view caught my eye.

I guess it’s unusual in that it’s not a big panorama, or sweeping landscape of the area, but sometimes things catch your eye and they are often quite simple everyday parts of your surroundings that often get missed.  That’s what I like about this.

It’s just on the side of the road going back home from Yarra Glen; and isn’t it funny how you don’t notice it when you are going to a place, but only on the way back.

In all my artworks, Golden brand acrylic paints are my choice. I love their highly-pigmented colours.

I have used a gloss varnish (over an isolation coat, which means that the varnish can be removed without damage to the paint) to enhance the colours even more.

The sides of the canvas are painted black.
