Additional Information

Minnie Waters Net Haulers by Geoff Hargraves.

Minnie waters on NSW north Coast had local professional fishermen who would wait on th beach for a travelling school of Sea mullet to pass, and once spotted they would row their boats out around the school while releasing th net behind them. Once surrounding the school the boat would continue back to the beach and then the task of hauling in the net would begin.
Any beach goer could assist the men hauling in the net and would be welcome to take away a feed of lovely sea mullet for helping.
The mullet were caught for the roe that the fish were heavy with.
It is now a thing of the past, the fishing licenses have been bought back and the waters are now a part of the Solitary Islands Marine Park.
