Misted Sunrise captures the moment when light and atmosphere transform the land into pure poetry. Five trees stand boldly in the foreground, their forms carved out with the precision of negative painting, their silhouettes softened by the rising haze. Textured passages ripple across the canvas, the surface itself echoing the scrubby undergrowth that stretches away in luminous, receding layers. Though mist veils the distance, the colours are anything but muted—radiant, saturated hues blaze through the fog, evoking the first flare of sunrise as it ignites the landscape. Abstracted yet grounded, this work balances softness and intensity, inviting the viewer to step into a world where dawn is both seen and felt. While making this painting I discovered new heights in just how many layers I could build, adding exponentially to the intricate detail.
