Mum’s Gerberas by Sam Askin

I really enjoy painting and drawing botanicals. My parents have surrounded themselves with their own nursery on their patio and at most times of the year something is in bloom. I have been really wanting to do a rose close up in pastel and went around to see what they had to show off. Nothing took my eye, but down next to the rose bushes was this small, unassuming pot of gerberas. It was justice to bring their vibrancy to life with soft pastel, layering reds, oranges and yellows set against their neutral background. Perfect to light up any room!
