Additional Information

‘My Dahlia’ by Natalie Finney – fine art photographer -is part of Florallegory II, a photographic series exploring the intimate interconnection between humankind and the natural world. The work draws parallels between human experience and plant life, reflecting shared qualities of vulnerability, transience, beauty and quiet resilience.

Inspired by historical floral still-lives and rites of adornment, the portrait uses a single bloom as an allegorical presence. The dahlia replaces the figure’s face, transforming identity into something tender and unresolved — at once protective, ornamental and ephemeral. The image speaks to the ways we project meaning onto nature, and how growth and fragility often coexist.

Each artwork is created through a layered photographic process. An analogue portrait is digitally printed, then re-photographed with carefully arranged botanical elements, resulting in a softly textured and contemplative final image.

This work is presented as a fine art photograph, measuring 33 × 24 cm.
