Mystery Road by Shirley Dougan

Many years ago, I visited England and took a trip on the little steam train, which runs through the North Yorkshire Moors.

This is one of the views from the train carriage.

I wonder where that road on the left goes, and does the track on the right join up with it? What’s behind the trees? Is that a building in the middleground on the left?

Whilst it was some time ago, I imagine that it hasn’t changed very much.

This is quite an abstracted artwork, however I think it captures the essence of the place very well.

In all my artworks, Golden brand acrylic paints are my choice. I love their highly-pigmented colours.

I have used a gloss varnish (over an isolation coat, which means that the varnish can be removed without damage to the paint) to enhance the colours even more.

The sides of the canvas are painted black.
