“Dream” is a large oil painting on canvas the original size is 118.9cm x 84.1cm. The idea for the painting “Dream” came to be when I was driving around Newcastle looking at the clouds that seemed extra special, very bright and dramatic. The atmosphere was intreging and seagulls were flying around enjoy the sea breeze. The large rose murex shell is added as a heavenly focal point, juxtapositioned in scale to add that surrealist effect of incongruous metamorphism. The painting “Dream” symbolies a spiritual connection to nature, to rise above all humanly conditions that confront our daily lives and to look up and see the light. The deep green sea represents our emotions and the painting aims to suggest to let everything wash away. Imagine yourself standing with your feet in the cool water, letting everything wash away while you take in the beauty of nature all around you. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I did making it.
