Additional Information

Night of Colours by Meg Shaw – This is an original contemporary landscape using environmentally friendly Australian made acrylics. The stretched canvas has been handmade using quality materials. It is framed in characterful, recycled Tasmanian Oak, so some minor imperfections may be visible. It measures approximately 96 x 67 x 4 cm. Painted with respect to Djab Wurrung and Jardwardjali people.

‘Night of Colours’ took me some time to complete. I started with thoughts and dreams of images from a different part of Australia, but found I was affected by the early 2024 fires in Gariwerd Country (The Grampians, Victoria). So, the painting evolved into a remembered impression of this precious,  important and beautiful environment.

I hope those who love the area see the colours and textures and think of Gariwerd at twilight – just as the light plays tricks and just before the hues disappear. I’ve added hints of Parrot Peas as they’re my favourite wildflower. There is some symbolism included, too.

Comments have been positive:

“… beautiful energy. I can feel the ancestors. Gariwerd’s contrast of colours is magical and you’ve captured their mystique floating through. Stunning.” Sharon, a local Gariwerd textile artist and environmentalist.

“… a beautiful and intimate piece. I am stepping into a rhythmic night of colours, light, sounds (melodies of the land) and deep memories. It is a haunting, lingering feeling…” Hartini Gibson, painter, USA.

I used high quality, Australian made, environmentally friendly acrylics to create this painting. My tools are brushes, palette knives, dabbing rags and fingers.

The photos show the finished artwork, close-ups, in situ, the making of the canvas, various angles of the frame and the early stages of the painting process. Please note that the situ shots are virtual and meant to show what the painting might look like hanging on a wall.

‘Night ofColours’ will be sent to you via Auspost. It will be placed in a protective crate, wrapped in recycled bubble wrap and packed in recycled cardboard. The painting comes with a certificate of authenticity. As I live in rural Tasmania now, please allow a little more time for delivery. Thank you.
