Night Walk Down Flinders St by Sam Askin

This little cityscape has a lot going on in a little space! Having only been to Melbourne for a couple of significant stays, this was my first night walk down Flinders St and wow those lights! Throw in a token tram passing by and it’s one of those perfect moments where you would never blink twice at it if you saw it every day, but in its own right, really is a pretty stunning combo of architecture, light, city life and nature blurred together. It was a lot of fun getting free with the different colours bouncing off the surfaces in this scene, knowing that it was all about conveying that sense of the place rather than the accuracy of the objects in the scene. You can really see my style coming through where up close it’s a mass of colourful blobs side by side… But as you step back the scene comes to life. I hope that it brings out that feeling of place for anyone familiar with this location!
