Now I lay me down to sleep by Susanne Bianchi.

I’ve had this piece of driftwood sitting in my studio for over 2 years waiting for it to talk to me. Finding driftwood wood pieces along the shoreline where I walk is sadly getting rarer and rarer. Hence each piece of work is precious and unique as there will never be another piece like it – no two pieces are ever alike.

So finally, it spoke to me. ‘Now I lay me down to sleep’ is a classic children’s bedtime prayer from the 18th century.  My sweet little girl is saying her nightly prayer.  She morphed out of the driftwood, isn’t she gorgeous. Her face and luxurious hair falling down her back and her simple nightgown are simply enhanced using the natural texture and colour of the driftwood.

The driftwood piece has been finished in a satin varnish. It stands on an aluminum post with timber base, which has a felt bottom to protect furniture.

She comes with signed Certificate of Authenticity.
