Object Space 3 by Prue Crome –  is a large abstract oil painting exploring the notion of canvas as an object. The small square canvases are floating above a field of colour, an illusionary field of paint on a surface. This more painterly work is suggestive of landscape, a major representational shift for the floating field that creates a tension with the misplaced small canvas elements. The canvas is stretched to expose 1 edge, continuing the dialogue of surface and object.

The aim for this work is to create a floating space to generate an expansive and peaceful experience yet drawing attention to the power of a straight line.
