Additional Information

Ochre‘ by Meg Shaw is inspired by the more arid areas of Australia.

Reduced from $950 to $665.

This origninal composition is a mix of my impressions of the colours and images from Ikara, Flinders Ranges, SA. (Adnyamathantha Country.) I’ve used layers and textures to create details and a palette of mainly ochre colours to capture the essence of this ancient and expansive land.

Ikara, in my mind, is a space for nature’s rugged beauty – a place of life and survival that can infer resilience and endurance. This is especially apparent through the gigantic and gnarled, ancient shapes, and then, in contrast, the surprises of tiny and beautiful wildflowers. There’s a feeling of timelessness, an atmosphere of whispers and a silence that allows you to think and reflect.

‘Ochre’ is a mixed media painting – environmentally friendly acrylics, as well as, inks and charcoal. It has been worked on stretched canvas and is framed in Tasmanian Oak, measuring approximately 64 x 64 x 4 cm. It is an original, impressionistic and contemporary landscape. My tools are very often my hands and fingers, plus brushes, palette knives and dabbing rags.

The photos show the whole painting, the beginnings, close-ups, situ shots and the frame. Please note: I use an art app for situ photos. They are intended to show what the painting might look like hanging on a wall.

‘Ochre’ will be sent via Auspost inside a protective crate, wrapped in recycled bubble wrap and packed in recycled cardboard. As I live in rural Tasmania now, please allow a little more time for delivery. Thank you.
