Additional Information

Ode to a Banksia, a mixed media of pen fineliner drawing and watercolour is the result of a walk in the bush. Originally intended as a study of some of my favourite natives. Australia’s unique Banksia’s come in so many different shapes and sizes, the family incorporate over 170 species. Showy in their own unique way compared with exotic flowers, the subtly and detail of each flower within a flower, the colours, shapes and variety lure me.  Australian natives if given half a chance will pique your interest for their diversity and distinctiveness. The combination of delicacy and toughness sum up this country of ours. No Australian garden should be without at least a couple.

Note the finished drawing is sharper than the image implies.
