As an artist, like others before me I have to push myself to try new things.

I’ve been experimenting with Ochre’s and Earth colours in the pursuit of Australian inspired Abstracts. They also provide a great way to then add bold colour that always seems to pop.

Each study is approached in the same way any artworeminderk is created. I continue to explore shape, line and composition until I feel something from the work. To me each one tells a story.

This one gave me the impression of undiscovered gold. Yet to be prospected in the Australian outback. A hidden gem from the gold rush somehow left behind. An ochre, umber, background with a few subtle dashes of colour, highlighted by the streak of undeniable gold leaf.

Warmth and layered with some texture. Up close you can explore the different techniques employed to give diversity to the piece.
