Additional Information

I had a wonderful experience with my wife Deb when we travelled with Orangutan Trekking Tours in 2024, living on a klotok river boat for 9 days.

Nestled in the heart of Indonesian Borneo, Tanjung Puting National Park with its lush rainforests, meandering rivers and diverse wildlife offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the natural beauty and biodiversity of the region.

As one of the largest protected areas in Southeast Asia, Tanjung Puting is renowned for its population of critically endangered orangutans. The park’s dense tropical forests provide a sanctuary for these magnificent creatures, along with a myriad of other wildlife species, including proboscis monkeys, gibbons, and exotic bird species.

We encountered numerous wild orangutans plus many semi wild orangutans that have been rehabilitated and reintroduced into the forests.

Witnessing the innocence in the eyes of these stunning creatures is something that will never leave me.
