Outback Saltpans of Central Australia by Pamela Mitchell – An original acrylic and oil painting with the added use of charcoal.

This work is an aerial view over salt pans in Central Australia as the rain water makes its way into the lakes changing the landscape and bringing the birds and fish back to the waterways until they dry up again.

I have used the diptych (2 canvases) style to fully encompass the vastness of the area.

The dried river system winding through the richness of the red earth country creates a wonderful visual dichotomy. Only in Australia do we see these vibrant colours occurring naturally in nature. It is also the only time that fish and birds return to the area.

It is varnished for protection and unframed but ready to hang as a diptych.
