This painting shows a part of the view on the Wolgan Valley from Donkey mountain. This area in the upper Blue Mountains just a 3 hr drive from Sydney is one of the most beautiful areas around. There are very unique and impressive rock formations known as pagodas that are being lost due to exploitation of the land given for mining that is also causing contamination of the waterways which eventually flow through the Blue Mountains national park.

The painting was painted using a brush and palette knife for detail and more structured paint.

Christopher Vidal is a realist artist inspired by the style and techniques of the classical realist painters such as Caravaggio and Dutch painters as Rembrandt. He is also inspired by the American painters of the Hudson River School and the Australian impressionists of the Heidelberg Art Movement.
His works of art brings together classical realism from Europe and the US as well as Australian impressionism.
