Additional Information

Oxalis’ by Natalie Finney – fine art photographer – is part of Florallegory, a photographic series exploring the deep interconnection between humankind and the natural world. Drawing quiet parallels between human experience and plant life, the work reflects shared qualities of resilience, transience, beauty and wonder.

Inspired by historical floral still-lives and rituals of adornment, foliage is used as a gentle allegorical device. Here, the oxalis leaves obscure vision while inviting contemplation, suggesting how nature can both reveal and conceal, protect and disorient. The portrait speaks to a delicate tension between vulnerability and strength, and to our instinctive desire to see ourselves reflected in the natural world.

Each artwork is created through a layered photographic process: an analogue portrait is digitally printed, then re-photographed and overlaid with carefully arranged botanical elements, resulting in a tactile, contemplative final image.

This work is presented as a framed fine art photograph, measuring 56.5 × 73.5 cm, housed in a vintage Italian timber frame, locally crafted in Melbourne. Ready to hang.
