Additional Information

Pathway‘ by Meg Shaw is inspired by merged and remembered images of south-western Victoria, inland and coast – Wadawurrung, Gadubanud and Dhauwurd Wurrung Countries.

Reduced from $1050 to $735.

For ‘Pathway’, I have used several horizontal lines to roughly set out the composition, as that’s how I often visualise Australian environments. The scene is set in the cooler months and in the evening, when the colours are softer and more muted. I included a smoky look to give an atmospheric feel. This is done with respect to First Nations Peoples and their smoke practices – both practical (cool burns) and ceremonial.

The style is contemporary landscape and impressionistic. The  approach is intuitive, as this painting came to me in my dreams and the image is what unfolded on the canvas. I don’t prepare works by sketching etc. but I start by brushing paint till I get a sense of the direction. This all occurs during the process. At times, I place some charcoal marks on the canvas, but mostly I just try to connect with the theme. I’m also influenced by design and I often create a naïve, stained glass appearance.

‘Pathway’ is a mixed media painting (acrylics, inks and charcoal) on stretched canvas. It’s framed in Tasmanian Oak measuring 95 x 49 x 4 cm. It has been coated several times in a protective finish.

Photos show the finished painting, close-ups, the Tasmanian Oak frame, situ shots and the beginning of the painting. Please note that the situ photos show what the painting might look like hanging on a wall.

‘Pathway’ will be sent to you via Auspost. It will be inside a protective case, wrapped in recycled bubble wrap and paced in recycled cardboard. As I live in rural Tasmania now, please allow a little more time for delivery. Thank you.
