Peppermint by Meg Shaw – Reduced from $800 to $550. Framed and ready to hang.

This is a mixed media art work and #8 in my Forest Floor Series. ‘Peppermint’ is a negative space painting. This involves creating a colourful pattern on a surface, then painting around the shapes (in this case leaves) with a solid colour. It has been influenced by my love of design and our Australian natural environment.

For Peppermint’s background, I used a variety of Pinata alcohol ink colours (including subtle bronze and copper highlights) in a fluid art style. Then I created the eucalyptus leaves by painting the negative space in white acrylic. Lastly, I used white and black posca penwork to add detail. You’ll notice that the ink faintly shows through the top coat of acrylic paint which gives an interesting effect. The painting has been done on a yupo board and measures approx 48.5 x 64 x 5 cm after framing in Tasmanian Oak.

‘Peppermint’ has been reduced in price as it has a small gap between the edge of the painted board and the frame … see final picture.
