Perpetual Impermanence by Kathryn Fenton – This surrealist work ,the first of a series embodies the nature of Impermanence

-something that arises, changes and disappears. Surrealist Painting of Object in Big Sky.

According to the Buddhists – everything in human life and all objects is constantly

changing, inconstant and undergoes rebirth and redeath.

The suspended folded robe applied in realism is juxtaposed to a multilayered

textured background to give the appearance of movement, of a fleeting nature.

The robe is symbolic of man shedding his mortal coil.  This work won second place in the Coffs Harbour Art Prize this year.

Painted in acrylic and oil on canvas.
