Pink Column Forest Floor Series No 4 by Meg Shaw – This is a large, mixed media, negative space painting on yupo paper. I’ve used a darker and more muted coloured ink base for this piece, then worked white paint around multiple leaf shapes. A normal painting is done in positive space, but negative space paintings give an interesting and different perspective. I tried to create movement by laying out the leaves in a similar direction and then outlining and highlighting them with white pen work. You’ll notice spirals repeated in the details. This is an often used symbol in my artwork. This painting would make a bold statement in your home.

‘Pink Column’ can be hung in either portrait or landscape orientation, depending on your choice. It also has space allowance for trimming the paper when framed. (To protect your art, please frame behind glass.)

It is inspired by the many leaf covered forest floors I’ve walked on throughout the years. My eyes are often directed downwards to appreciate the shapes of fallen, nibbled and jagged gum leaves. In this painting, however, I’ve used imagined colours.

The photos show the whole negative space painting in landscape and portrait orientation, close-ups and situ scenes. Please note: the situ shots are virtual and meant to show what the artwork might look like hanging, framed on a wall.

‘Pink Column’ comes with a certificate of authenticity and can be sent directly to you by Auspost in a cardboard tube. As I live in rural Tasmania now, please allow a little more time for postage. Thank you.
