This painting started spontaneously in a very expressionistic way when listening to one of Beethovens Sonates (no 17 in D minor) which brought back childhood memories of my mum playing the piano when I came home for lunch from school and hurrying to the small grocery store with my little shopping list thinking of my ballet class after school racing back home with the pink coconut cheese I was allowed to have occasionally. Pink one of my favorite colors, pink ballet shoes and green from the forest we would go to and look for the special red mushroom. Mushrooms emerging from darkness and decay are a favorite recurrence in my latest works as a symbol for rebirth, spiritual growth and are vital to the ecosystems around the world, they are little environmental heroes! Through mycelium, mushrooms help other plants share nutrients and communicate through chemical signals. Quiet achievers!
I’m sure everyone has their favorite childhood memories and sharing some of mine is so much fun. I hope this vibrant colorful painting which will be part of a new series will bring a sense of fun and warmth to your wall and makes you think of your own special sometimes forgotten moments.
