The hairy seeds of the plant are cooked then eaten. The inner bark is prepared and used as an eyewash. The finely fissured, gray outer bark fiber is used to produce string and twine. The roots of young plants are roasted or eaten raw. In good conditions, it will grow to around 15 meters. The leaves are ovate to an elongated heart shape and smooth. The flowers are bell-shaped, greenish yellow with spotted brown, red centers occurring from June to October. Fruiting occurs from September to December. It is found mainly in open forest or woodland.
