Poinciana Pod and Weave by Carol Forster

To make the top of this piece I have used a latex mould created from a Poinciana Seed Pod. Clay slabs, when rolled and pressed over this surface and pulled away reveal an impression of the pod.  The strips of the weave have been individually cut and placed on a plaster mould before attaching the pods.

This piece also reflects my ongoing experimentation with contrasts and contradictions in clay, from rough to smooth, gloss to matt and light to dark
