“Potassium” by Elisha Mcguckin – a pop art inspired still life painting.

It is rare these days that I paint organic subjects, but I have just had a bit of a ‘banana phase’

After my daughter began refusing to eat ‘dirty’ bananas (aka ripe bananas with black spots on them) they very quickly become a studio muse.

This work titled Potassium is my take on a banana painting, a playful pop art influence on an otherwise ‘dull subject’

The yellows and golds tartan, chequered pattern a nod to Vivienne Westwood, look fabulous in the background really highlighting the yellow banana.

The colours are rich and banana has been painted with meticulously layered expressive brushstrokes.

All my works are professionally finished, painted to edges and sealed/protected with a gloss varnish.

This would make a fun addition to any art collection.
