This painting was partly inspired by the lyrics of the same Crowded House song title.  The young woman’s face,

deep in thought, floats above her dreamlike landscape.  It is her mind’s “private universe” she can run for shelter

and where nothing matters…………

Kathryn applied various mediums of oil, acrylic, charcoal, pastel and acrylic markers to create many transparent

layers where mark-making gestural lines weave in and out across the canvas, symbolic of the woman’s complexity

of thought.

The saturated tones of the greens and yellows with the hint of pale flesh tone create an other worldly atmosphere

where anything is possible.
