Additional Information

PromisedLands River by Paula Maggs – Forests are a recurring theme in my artwork. I explore them as both a physical and symbolic space-a metaphor for my journey through life.

The dense tangled woods reflect my experience of feeling lost, encountering obstacles, and stumbling multiple times along the way.
Yet within the danger and darkness, there is mystery and a primal magic that calls to something deep within me.
Through my art I invite the viewer to step into this untamed world, to wander, and to find meaning in the wilderness.
This work was created intuitively, and involved scraping back thick paint and then noticing as the paint folded in on itself strange effects appearing.
I embrace an experimental process where I often find ‘happy accidents’ emerge. By surrendering control underlying truths reveal themselves that I recognise
during, and often after, the process. This cannot happen if I stick to a per-planned concept.

Utilising a palette knife, rags and brushes.
