One thing I have found is that I have a fascination with patterns. Rapids No. 1 is an exploration of this fascination, and I am fortunate enough to be able to combine with my fascination of water.
Behind a hotel I was staying at in Cradle Mountain was a small creek, and I was fascinated by the small rapid in the creek. From this creek, I created Rapids No. 1 and its companion pieces Rapids No. 2 and Rapids No. 3. To finish each piece, I inverted the colours to give the artworks a more dynamic and lighter feel.
Rapids No. 1 is part of the Water Related series.

The artwork is printed on Chromaluxe premium metal for a contemporary look and feel. John feels that the medium best suits his artworks. The artwork is backed by a floating hanger system. This allows the artwork appears to float off the wall.
