Red River Gums 1 Walgett by Kathryn Fenton – Expressionist River Gum Landscape in mixed media with floating oak timber frame ready to be hung. On a five day plein air trip to Western NSW, the town of Walgett provided stunning subject matter with their Red River Gums straddling wide stretches of river..
The trees distinctive smooth white satin boughs writhing into the skies have a magic reflective quality enhanced by the rivers they grow in.
Often a favourite subject by artists for over a century, Kathryn was particularly interested in capturing the light above all else, dancing around the trunks, water and hills behind using very loose, multi layered brush strokes and using a pastel palette indicative of the bleached Australian Bush.
This mixed media painting in acrylics and oil has been professionally mounted in a beautiful oak timber floating frame ready to be hung.
