Reef Coral by Meg Shaw – This fluid ink piece is an impression of an underwater sea scene and is inspired by Jiigurru (The Great Barrier Reef). It is a bold artwork and will definitely make a statement in any room. It is painted with respect to Dingaal people who are the traditional owners of this amazing water country.

It is a hand worked, original, alcohol ink on yupo paper. There are no digital applications used, nor brushes to create this artwork. The colours are vibrant pinks, purple, black and yellow, with gold highlights. The off-white background of the paper allows these wonderful colours to stand out

My ink technique uses the natural movement of the medium as it mixes with alcohol. I also apply puffs of air to move the ink around. Lastly, I tilt the paper, allowing the ink to run in various directions.

Alcohol ink is a difficult medium to work with and takes a lot of practice to perfect. Perfect may not be the right word, as I feel the end results are a mix of skill and happy accidents.

‘Reef Coral’ is unframed and framing behind glass is recommended.

The photos show the whole fluid art piece, close-ups and situ scenes. Please note: the situ shots are virtual and meant to show what the artwork might look like hanging, framed on a wall.

‘Coral Reef’ comes with a certificate of authenticity and can be sent directly to you by Auspost in a cardboard tube. As I live in rural Tasmania now, please allow a little more time for delivery. Thank you.
