Reef Memories Wall Sculpture by Carol Forster.

This sculptural wall hanging is handmade in fine porcelain clay.

The patterns and textures on this piece are an interpretation of the coral bleaching of the world heritage listed Great Barrier Reef in Queensland.

To create some of the surface textures I have collected bits of shells and corals offered up by the sea.  On taking them back to my studio, I make moulds from them which I then use to take clay impressions, before applying them to the form.  The relief seashore image is taken from a dried seahorse I collected from the beach, on one of my many coastal walks.
