Additional Information

This original painting is a narrative image about the importance and beauty of trees. The tree appears as a brave and weary traveler, perhaps, or an exotic warrior, vulnerable but resilient, able to withstand great hardship. The palm is actually an introduced species that has thrived for tens of years in my front garden. Many other plants and small creatures rely on it. It is quite the character painted from life and repositioned in an imaginary situation to invite the viewer to connect on a metaphysical level, and to consider people’s place in the natural world.
