Return to self by Sibylle Zinnocker

‘Return to self’ is my biggest canvas to date and part of a bigger body of work all centred around moody blues. This deeper exploration of the same colour palette is an effort to dig deeper and not be afraid of the emotions that come up. It is emotive and moody, created intuitively like all my abstract works coming to fruition through many layers of paint and a constant process of adding and subtracting until the balance feels right.

Sides are painted in white and the artwork is finished with two layers of satin varnish to protect the artwork. I sign my work on the back to allow for the orientation to be decided by the buyer, whilst I usually have a clear favourite of how I would hang a piece, the orientation remains a very personal choice.
