Additional Information

Rush of Heat by Meg Shaw – This painting has been created with respect to First Nations peoples.

‘Rush of Heat’ is a textured, impressionistic landscape on a handmade stretched canvas, measuring approximately 95cm x 95cm.

Original contemporary landscape. Environmentally friendly acrylic painting.

The subject is representative of several areas of Australia where heat gives that ‘sunburnt country’ feel of intensity and, from what I have experienced, stillness with intermittent floating sensations.

I used hot colours to convey an atmosphere of heat and hazy light. The aim was to impact on emotions and create a narrative in the minds of viewers. I also wanted to build a looser and more tactile feel to this piece by using palette knives and fingers – no brushwork except for the base coats and underpainting.

Some comments I’ve received from other artists are:

“Intriguing and ethereal.”

“Deeply resonant.”

“Powerful.”

“That’s a 45°C summer day captured brilliantly.”

“I can feel the heat of place and the warmth of your spirit getting back to herself. ”

“Australian bush, fire and heat of emotions.”

The photos show the whole painting, early stage, close-ups, making the canvas and virtual situ scenes. Please note that the situ shots are virtual and meant to show what the painting might look like hanging on a wall.

“Rush of Heat” will be posted via Auspost using recycled bubblewrap and placed in a protective crate. It will come with a certificate of authenticity and a handwritten blurb about the painting. Please allow a little more time for delivery as I now live in rural Tasmania.
