Saltwater Creek – South-West Rocks by Kathryn Fenton – Expressive Landscape Mangrove Reflections. This work culminated from a three day plein air trip to the picturesque coastal town of Southwest Rocks.
I followed this small trickle of a creek slightly inland from the sea which suddenly opened up into a wide

mangrove area. What spoke to me most in this landscape was the soft pastels and hazy tones of the trees

and scrubs, and especially in amongst this tranquility were large areas of busy graphic lines in the bleached

grass reeds. You could almost see the insects in the distance frantically bounding around in and out of the thickets.
Painted in loose acrylic brushwork and mark making with acrylic pens.
