Schizophrenic by Paula Maggs – thoughts and emotions are inseparable, feeding off each other in an endless loop.
They are not just fleeting reactions but a constant presence, woven into
the fabric of reality. Delusion has outpaced real life, blurring the line between the imagined and the unthinkable.
Although this work emerged intuitively, without a predetermined outcome, subconsciously it is a subject I needed to address. My younger brother developed paranoid schizophrenia. I watched his grip on reality slide into delusion firsthand.
When painting I surrender control and immerse myself fully in the process.
What surfaces is raw and unfiltered.
