In the story, Atlantis is described as a naval empire that ruled all Western parts of the known world. Atlantis falls out of favor with the deities and submerges into the Atlantic Ocean. I see this as an allegory for what is happening now, and it is easy to tell which country is Atlantis. This painting is an emotional depiction of the modern-day fall and what comes next. This artwork is painted in the abstract expressionist genre.
