The Block Collection ‘Shop The Block’ by Andrea Ward

ORIGINAL mixed media & collage work featuring the ‘Collins street entrance’ to the Block arcade in Melbourne (unframed but with backing & mount) ready to be framed

I think every ‘Baby Boomer’ could relate to this work on ‘shop the Block’. This work features a journey thru the years showing the original Elizabeth street frontage, 1960’s and early 1970’s with the taxi cabs of the time parked out the front of the Collins street entrance. The shoppers just look like our mums of the time. Pieces of mosaic paper from my current ‘Block collection silk scarves’ create the arcade ambiance featuring colours of the Block including the wonderful copper trim. I have very fond memories of the Block growing up & became a tenant in the arcade for approx 20 years

Shop the Block is part of a collection in a series of 5 works
