Entering her 40s, Sanae felt the shock of physical and emotional change, followed by confusion, reflection, and eventually calm. This collection follows that journey: early works unsettled and questioning, then gradually embracing quiet confidence.The early stage of Sanae’s Aging in Stillness collection emerged from her own confusion and frustration with the changes that aging brings.

Her piece Silent Battle reflects the quiet struggles we all carry – within our bodies, our minds, and our moods. These struggles can be moments of doubt, sadness, or the challenges that come with aging and life transitions, such as parenthood.

Drawing on the philosophy of wabi-sabi, which teaches acceptance of both circumstances and self, Sanae created this work as a space to hold those feelings, experiences, and even memories of achievement –  a reminder that our silent battles shape who we are.
