Sin takes Grace for a ride by Karen Chappelow

I am exploring the randomness of words, how David Bowie and William S Burroughs composed works and the Dadaists movement in general. So I placed a call out to my friends asking a few questions (below) and then cut each answer into strips, numbered them and then randomly selected 1-5 of each category to compile a nonsensical paragraph in which then I am trying to make sense of nonsense-here’s one.

  1. Favourite song, lyric or line-“Put a little birdhouse in your soul”
  2. Favourite movie/book quote-“For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law, but under grace”
  3. Favourite slogan/protest line or statement-“always was”
  4. What advice would you give your younger self-“be bold, be unapologetic be you, not who you think others want you to be”
  5. What would you do differently-“rinse and repeat”

The lyrics put a little birdhouse in you soul by They Might be Giants tells a story from the perspective of a nightlight in the shape of a blue bird . I’ve used artistic licence with the bible passage and my bird lady is called Grace and the horse then called Sin. Reference to ‘always was’ is the aboriginal flag colours represented in the birds eye. 4/5 represented by being bold and living that every day.
