Jane’s painting Sleeping Beauty is inspired by fairytales of the Brothers Grimm and other authors. Sleeping Beauty is cursed by an evil fairy at birth, but one of the good fairies intervenes, ensuring she will sleep rather than die. When she reaches puberty she pricks her finger and falls into a 100 year sleep – but eventually a prince wakes her with a kiss. The fairytale symbolises the transition from innocence to womanhood, and the power of fate and true love.
Jane is a well-known Brisbane artist who has been finalist for Lethbridge 10,000, Rotary Art Spectacular, Moreton Bay Art Awards, Noosa Art Award, and Stanthorpe Art Prize. She has also exhibited at various Brisbane and Gold Coast galleries. Her paintings are held in private collections worldwide.
