Sleipner and the rainbow bridge rug by Karen Chappelow 148cm x 143L handmade in WA

Sleipnir is the 8-legged steed of Odin and child of Loki – in Nordic mythology a grey mare ridden between the kingdoms.

The only way the gods could cross to the kingdom of Azgard was by using the Rainbow Bridge, also known as Bifrost. This is symbolised by fire air and water.

Every day the council would meet to discuss issues amongst the gods.

I like to think that today our issues regarding equality and equal rights would be discussed at these meetings and the Rainbow Bridge – an appropriate motif to represent inclusivity.
